  Chapter One

Cade Hollister’s cell phone rang just after 4:30 in the afternoon as he pulled off the exit and slowed toward the traffic light. Glancing at the large bouquet of flowers sitting on the passenger seat next to him, he looked at the display before accepting the call.

Amy had a practice test today, one she was nervous about. He’d helped her study, but she had still been anxious this morning when he’d left for work. He hadn’t had a chance to check on her earlier but when his last patient canceled her appointment, he had taken advantage of the situation and left the clinic early, stopping at the florist to buy the bouquet of wild flowers for his young wife and surprise her with dinner out at her favorite restaurant.

“Good afternoon, Professor Brown,” he said. Jonathan Brown was Amy’s private tutor. Amy had dropped out of school with just one class to finish her degree. Well, she didn’t consider it dropping out. She called it extending her university experience. But she had come close enough to failing her statistics class twice that she had withdrawn and it had been a full year since the last time she had taken the class.

One thing Cade insisted on when they got married was that she get the tutoring she needed and take this last class the following semester. She could finally get the degree she was too close to earning to give up. When it happened to be a class a friend of Cade’s father used to teach, Cade had asked him for help and Professor Brown had agreed to take Amy on only because Cade was the son of a good friend. The Brown family had lived just a few houses away in the same neighborhood when Cade was growing up and their son had attended the same high school as Cade.

“Good afternoon, Cade,” the professor said. “How are you doing?”

“I’m fine, just heading home early to surprise Amy. How did the practice test go?” he asked, hesitant, knowing that was what this call must be about. If she did badly, she’d lose what little confidence she had and she worked too hard for that to happen. She was intelligent and understood the subject matter. Yes, there were some areas she needed to work on, but the issue was more anxiety during testing than anything else, at least in Cade’s eyes.

“Well, that’s what I’m calling about. Amy didn’t make it in today. She called to say she had a fever and didn’t feel well.”

“Oh?” Cade asked, momentarily confused as he turned off into their development, waving to the guard at the gate as the barrier lifted and he drove through. “She was fine this morning.”

Cade heard the professor inhale a breath. “Listen, Cade, Amy does well… when she wants to. When she focuses. But in the last month, she’s skipped three classes at school that I learned about after speaking with her teacher and this is the second practice test she’s missed with me. She made up the last one but this puts me in a difficult place—I’m just not sure she’s committed. She can’t miss another class and I’m not sure when we can take this practice test before the actual one at school.”

“She studied for it, even stayed up late last night. I knew she was nervous, but this surprises me.”

“Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt then,” the professor offered. “If she truly was ill, I’ll excuse her and we’ll set up another time. But if not…”

“Well, I just pulled into the driveway and her car is here. I’ll check in on her now. Hell, maybe she worked herself up and made herself sick. She gets nervous, as you know.”

That was one of the reasons Cade had asked Professor Brown to call him in instances like this. At thirty-two, he had eight years on Amy. They’d been married for just over six months and had known each other for a little over a year. She was young and accepted his guidance, and he figured that was because she’d had a childhood where she didn’t have much in the way of parents. They were around physically, but the family business had demanded a great deal of her father’s time and both he and his wife had been very focused on themselves and their own lives, leaving Amy and her sister with a nanny when they were young children, and, when older, to fend for themselves most of the time.

Cade’s naturally dominant nature seemed a good fit for her, she seemed to want and even crave it. In a way, Cade understood it was probably the first time in her life that another human being took the time to guide or correct her when she needed it. That part of their relationship hadn’t progressed much further than that, but if she had lied and skipped this practice test, she had a hard lesson coming. They both did. He’d been contemplating taking the guidance he provided, and she responded so well to, to another level for some time now. Perhaps this was the time.

“Thanks, Cade. I hope I’m wrong.”

“Me too. I’ll let you know either way tomorrow.”

  “All right. Goodbye, Cade.”

“Have a good rest of your day, professor.”

Cade parked the car and collected the bouquet of flowers, as well as his medical bag, and headed into the house. He too hoped Professor Brown was wrong about today, but her having missed three other days of classes he didn’t know about would have to be dealt with. And when he set his keys and bag down in the kitchen and heard her giggling from the other room, he shook his head and headed to the bedroom to see his young wife.

Amy quickly shoved her iPhone under her pillow and lay back down, just glancing at the clock. It wasn’t even 5:00 PM yet. She didn’t expect Cade home until closer to six. She closed her eyes, willing herself to calm down, knowing she’d have to lie to him, kicking herself now for being too chicken to just go in and take the stupid test! It wasn’t even the real deal. It was a practice run for the big test coming up in a few weeks.

“Hi, honey,” Cade said, opening the door and walking into the bedroom. He carried a huge bouquet of wild flowers, which only added to her guilt.

“Hi,” she said, trying to make herself sound sick.

“Are you feeling ok?” he asked, coming toward her, his hand moving to her forehead to check if she felt warm. “It’s not like you to lie around.”

“I felt nauseous after lunch and just a little dizzy so I thought I’d lie down and take it easy.”

“You do feel a little warm,” he said.

She did? She cleared her throat. “I called to postpone my session with Professor Brown. I wanted to be 100% to take the practice test, you know?”

He studied her, turning her face from side to side, examining her as he would a patient. “You look a little flushed, but maybe that’s all these blankets,” he said, pushing them down to her waist. They lived in Scottsdale, Arizona and even on the coolest days, it wasn’t cold. “You got dressed?”

She’d just gotten home an hour ago after meeting Lydia for an impromptu shopping trip. Lydia had needed help finding a dress for a date and, with her afternoon freed up, Amy had joined her.

“I never got undressed. I was fine this morning, i
t was just after lunch that I started to feel strange.”

Just then, the phone she’d tucked under her pillow buzzed with a message. She’d been texting Lydia just before Cade had gotten home.

“What’s that?” he asked, reaching for the phone before she could grab it.

“Oh, probably Lydia. I told her I wasn’t feeling well,” Amy lied, trying to take the phone from him, but failing.

Cade read the display and spoke to her while he scrolled through what she knew were the previous messages. “Professor Brown called to say he was concerned that you’d missed today’s session. He mentioned that you’d missed some classes at school too?” Cade said, still scrolling and not meeting her eye. “I hadn’t realized you’d missed so many classes this month,” he finished, turning his attention to her then, his gaze very serious.

Was he waiting for an answer? She just stared up at him.

He looked back to the phone when it buzzed with another message. “Looks like Lydia found a nice dress,” he said, holding the phone up for Amy to see the picture.

Amy looked at it and the message just before the photo that read: Perfect fit, shopping was fun this afternoon. Thanks for coming with!

“Cade, I can explain…” she began. “I wasn’t feeling well enough to take the test, I still feel warm, you said so yourself…” She started to sit up but he put a hand on her shoulder, and lay her back down.

“Lie back down, honey. I’ll just get my medical bag and take your temperature properly before we continue this conversation. In the meantime, why don’t you roll over onto your belly and take your pants and panties down to get ready for me.”

  He stood and Amy swallowed.

“What do you mean?” she began, a small tinge of arousal between her legs even at the thought of the humiliation she immediately understood he intended. He’d always been dominant with her, it was something she always sought out in men and it was their dynamic, always had been. But this sounded different. He sounded different, like he knew all along she was lying and he was going to teach her a lesson for it.

“Here,” he said, reaching over to his side of the bed and handing her his pillow. “Slip this under your belly to lift your hips for me. I’ll be right back. Make sure you’re in position.”

She stared at his back as he walked out the door, her mouth too dry to respond, her body a whirlwind of emotions: excitement, rebellion, resistance. He was going to punish her, something in her just knew it.

No. That was ridiculous. He wouldn’t do it really, would he? She was an adult. Surely he didn’t intend on taking her temperature in that most embarrassing way possible?

  * * *

Cade picked up his medical bag and slowly returned to the bedroom, making sure to give Amy enough time to process what was about to happen. He didn’t expect her to be in position. In fact, he’d be surprised if she were. She had lied to him before by neglecting to tell him when she had missed school. He wondered about all those days when he had asked her how her day had been and not once had she mentioned anything about missing a class. Cade shook his head. This wasn’t like her, at least not like the Amy he knew she could be; he knew she wanted to be.

He knew what would happen when he took her temperature. It would read normal. He wasn’t sure how he felt about what he would have to do, what he had just set into motion, but he resolved to do it. He wouldn’t enjoy punishing her, but her self-sabotaging behavior needed to end. Amy was smart, she was funny and sweet, but for all her life, she’d been taught that she was only a girl and that girls only needed to be pretty. She was that, but she was so much more and she cut herself short when she gave in to the insecurities she’d grown up with, that she’d lived with hearing for far too long.

It was time to make that change in their relationship and today was a good day to do it. She was young, she’d grown up very differently than he had, but she was his now and she needed to know that he wouldn’t tolerate lying.

“Cade…” Amy began when he walked back into their bedroom to find her sitting on the edge of the bed, still holding the pillow he had handed her, waiting for him. She was nervous, he could see it in the way she held the pillow, in the way she looked at him, at his medical bag.

“Why aren’t you in position?” he asked, setting the bag down.

She glanced at it as he opened it, then back up at him. “You can’t be serious about this.” She tried to laugh it off and rose to her feet.

“Sit.” He only needed to say the one word, his tone enough to make her obey immediately.

Her eyes grew wide on his as he retrieved the thermometer and a small vial of lubricant.

“You were too sick to go to school today but you weren’t too sick to go shopping with Lydia.”

  “But… I just… I was sick, I just… when Lydia called and needed me…”

His mouth tightened. “Turn over onto your belly, lie down with the pillow underneath you, and bare your bottom to have your temperature taken. I’m a doctor, Amy, and if you’re sick, I want to take care of you.”

“And if I’m not sick?” she asked, waiting, her anxiety obvious.

“If you’re not sick, then I’m going to punish you for lying.”

“Punish me how?” she asked, glancing once more at the thermometer.

“We’ll get to that once we’ve established whether or not you’re sick. Last time I’m going to ask you to do this yourself. Turn over onto your belly and take your jeans and panties down to your knees.”

She opened her mouth to speak but closed it again, her expression making it obvious she knew there was no escaping her immediate future. Cade stood back and watched, pretending to busy himself with opening the tube of lubricant while his young wife stood and set his pillow at the center of their bed before laying herself over it. She lifted her hips just enough to get to the buttons on her jeans and soon she was pushing them down to her knees. She glanced at him once and he nodded for her to go on. She turned her face away, but not before he caught the blush that crept along her cheeks as she slowly pushed her panties down to bare her bottom for him. She didn’t turn back to him. Instead, she kept her gaze forward.

Cade looked at her, at her bottom bared and lifted for him. His cock began to harden at the sight of her there like that, and he took his time, making her wait, making her anticipate. She kept her gaze directly in front of her and even from her profile, he could see her eyes were wide, her expression nervous.

He cleared his throat and, smearing some of the lubricant onto his middle finger, he set the tube and the thermometer down. He sat on the bed and brought one large hand to her bottom, covering it, caressing it slightly. Up until today, he’d only slapped her bottom playfully, slowly easing her into more, but he’d never given her a proper spanking before and definitely not a disciplinary one. He’d spanked other women, former girlfriends and his ex-wife once or twice, but that was mostly of an erotic nature and what he was planning for Amy was something else entirely.

She glanced back at him. “Cade, please…do you have to do this?” she asked. “I only felt bad for a little while and just went shopping with Lydia…”

“When you were too sick to get to your very necessary tutoring session and take your practice test,” he finished for her.

She had no response to that.

“Our actions have consequences, Amy, and I think today you’re going to learn a very valuable lesson. Now face forward and try to keep your bottom relaxed. Put your hands on the headboard in fact and hold onto the lowest rail.”

“Cade…” It was her final effort, he could hear it.

Cade moved his hand to cup the back of her head and she leaned into it, her eyes filling with tears. The sight of her looking a little frightened and very unsure tugged at his heart. “I want what’s best for you, Amy. I know how smart you are and I know if you just decide to, you can do this and you’ll pass this class with flying colors. You just have to decide for yourself that you’re worth it. I understand why you struggle wi
th it, but things have to change and I think I know what you need to make the change. I won’t give up on you and I won’t let you give up on yourself. Things are going to be different around here, Amy, before it’s too late. Now face forward and hold on to the rail of the headboard. And from now on, when you’re being disciplined, you’ll call me sir, not Cade.”

“Disciplined?” she asked, but he knew from her tone, from how her arms reached for the headboard even as she remained looking at him, that she had some idea what to expect.

“Disciplined,” he said, his tone final. He nodded, gesturing for her to face forward, and slowly, she did so. “Separate your legs a little and don’t clench your bottom,” he instructed.

She obeyed and Cade looked at her lying there, prone, her legs just wide enough that he could glimpse the pink of her pussy lips. He was surprised to find them glistening with moisture. Taking her temperature in her bottom was a part of her punishment. They both knew it. The embarrassment of such an act administered by her husband would make an impression.

Without a word, he waited until she relaxed her bottom and slowly pulled one cheek out to expose her back hole. Just that little act aroused him and he decided he’d take his wife’s bottom soon, claim her there like he already had her pussy and her mouth.

Bringing his finger to her small hole, he began to smear the lubricant onto it. She clenched at first but then relaxed and he held her open as he did it, circling and circling, taking his time, fully aware all along of how much wetter her pussy grew with his continued attention to her bottom hole.

“Good girl, Amy. Just stay relaxed. I’m going to press my finger into your bottom now, like I’ve done before. It won’t hurt if you stay relaxed. I want to make sure you’re well lubricated inside as well as outside.”

  “Yes, sir.”
